# Koala: one BJJ goal at a time

## What is Koala?

A free app for Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ), gi or no-gi. You pick one goal, like a submission, a sweep, a takedown or an escape. You go for it every time you roll. After class you answer one question: did you pull it off? Koala then tells you where each goal stands: first time, getting better, getting harder, or you’ve got it.

## Is Koala a BJJ journal?

A different kind of one. No long entries and no technique lists: one goal, and one answer after class, with a few words of note if you want. Koala keeps every day, so you can look back at how a goal went.

## Is it free?

Yes, and it always will be. No ads, no subscription, no in-app purchases, no account.

## What does Koala know about me?

Nothing it sends anywhere. Koala has no server and no analytics. Everything stays on your phone, with a copy in your own iCloud on iPhone if you want one. The App Store and Google Play privacy labels say no data is collected.

## Does Koala teach jiu-jitsu?

No, that’s your coach’s job. Koala keeps track of what you’re working on. To start somewhere, «Ideas» has no-gi systems for each belt, without videos or explanations.

## What else is in it?

Reminders before and after class, widgets, your month in a calendar, systems that chain goals from a position, a round timer for open mat, your sleep from Apple Health or Health Connect, a countdown to a competition with an optional weight goal, and images to share a goal.

## Which phones and languages?

iPhone and Android, in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
